Obituary

Arthur M. "Archie" Dummitt, age 81, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at his home.  He was born October 29, 1944 in Lewis County, Kentucky, son of the late Samuel L. Dummitt and Mildred P. Lambert Dummitt.  Archie graduated from Lewis County High School in Kentucky with the class of 1962.  He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War.  Archie was a former employee of HPM in Mt. Gilead for over 20 years and later retired from Diamond Power in Lancaster.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, horseback riding and 4-wheeling.  When his health permitted, Archie attended the Church of God in Wellston.  He is survived by his wife of over 31 years, Joyce A. Burkhart Dummitt; siblings, Sam Dummitt (Calista), Shannon McKee, and Chris Dummitt, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Dorothy Burkhart; sister-in-law, Rachel Havinga, along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Archie was preceded in death by siblings, Patricia Dummitt, Gayle Dummitt, Ron Dummitt, Roy Dummitt, Pam Conn, Dale Dummitt, and Troy Dummitt; sisters-in-law, Ruth McKee and Lillian Koehler, and brother-in-law, Robert Burkhart.  Calling hours will be Saturday, January 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  A Celebration of Life service, with military honors, will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. with Pastor Barry Benson officiating.  In keeping with Archie's wishes, cremation will follow the services.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
