Barbara L. Rhodes, age 78, of Ray, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.  She was born October 19, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late John Speakman, Jr. and Wanda A. Shumway Speakman.  Barb graduated from Allensville High School with the class of 1963 and attended Rio Grand College.  Following 35 years of employment, she retired from the Vinton County School District, where she was employed at Central Elementary School.  Barb was an avid reader and also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family.  She is survived by her children, Missy Whiting (Roger), Mick Rhodes (Jennifer), Matt Rhodes (Missy) and Mark Rhodes (Stacy); grandchildren, Brandon Whiting (Beth), Kaitlyn Whiting (Toby), David Rhodes (Tiffany), Cody Rhodes (Rachel) and Cory Rhodes (Kayelynn); great-grandchildren, Raelee Whiting, Kasen Rhodes, Ryder Rhodes, Scarlett Rhodes, Bennett Rhodes, Jacob Rhodes, Brennen Forest and Kyson Forest; brothers, Terry Speakman, Tony Speakman and Chris Speakman; sisters, Teresa Lawhead, Jodi Parfitt and Lori Speakman; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, David G. "Buck" Rhodes in 2001; great-grandchild, Julian Rhodes; brothers, Scott Speakman and Jim Speakman, and sister, Hazel Ray.  Calling hours will be Thursday, September 19th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.  Burial will be in the Bell Cemetery in Allensville.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
