Obituary

Barry Eugene Crabtree, age 60, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 at his home.  He was born August 7, 1965 in Gallipolis, Ohio.  Barry graduated from Oak Hill High School with the class of 1984 and lived a life marked by generosity, family devotion, and a love for the open road.  Barry was a man who found joy in simple pleasures and deep connections.  He had a passion for riding his Harley and cherished the thrill of participation in demolition derbies alongside his family.  These moments were more than hobbies – they were traditions that brought him closer to those he loved.  Whether it was the roar of engines or the cheers from the stands, Barry embraced every moment with enthusiasm.  He especially enjoyed supporting his granddaughter Sofia and niece Dallis at their softball games.  Watching them play brought him immense pride and happiness.  His presence in the stands was a constant reminder of his unwavering support for his family.  Barry's heart was as big as his spirit.  He was known as the first to lend a hand or be there when someone needed him most.  His kindness extended beyond words – he showed up, time and time again, with quiet strength and compassion.  Barry is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa Spires Crabtree; daughters, Courtney Crabtree, Alexandria Starr, and her husband John, and Molly Durbin, and her husband Brandon; grandchildren, Eli Call (Crabtree), Gracie Moore, Gabe Moore, Sofia Simpson, Violet Durbin, and Isaiah Starr.  Barry also leaves behind siblings, Barry Anderson, Katrina Merritt, Denver Alcorn, Carl Alcorn, Becky Smith, Terry Crabtree, Tammy Bailey, Jr. Crabtree, Dustin Crabtree, and Korena Crabtree, as well as his stepmother, Vicky Crabtree.  Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Short Harrison; father, Ernest Eugene Crabtree; and brothers, Tim Alcorn and Jeremy Crabtree.  Among those who will miss him dearly is his beloved dog, Brownie – his loyal companion through many of life's adventures.  Barry's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.  May his legacy of generosity and love continue to inspire those he leaves behind.  Calling hours will be Friday, November 28, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tim Simpson officiating.  Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Coalton.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
