Betty Jane Hankinson, age 93, of Wellston, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. She was born July 30, 1932 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Myron Overly and Mabel Rose Waugh Jones. In years past, Betty was employed at the former Kuppenheimer Manufacturing in Wellston, also known as The Pants Factory, as well as the Ponderosa Apple Orchid. Above all, what was most important to Betty was being a loving mother and housewife. Betty had a strong Christian faith and was a member of the Jackson Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved crocheting and enjoyed sharing her afghans and crafts with others. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, putting together jigsaw puzzles, working word search puzzles and spending as much time with her family as she could. Betty is survived by her children, Janice Fox O’Dell (Richard Shotts) of Wellston and John Ward (Sharon) of Bardstown Kentucky; grandchildren, James “Bink” Fox (Janet), Jessica Reese (Clark), Amanda Naugle (Ryan) and Ashley Geldine (Clint); great-grandchildren, David Coyan, Eva Naugle, Ben Naugle, Marcus Naugle and Lydia Geldine; great-great-granddaughters, McKensey and Chloe Coyan; sister, Pauline Swan; and Betty’s loving dog, Hank. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clark Ward; second husband, Stan Hankinson; grandson, Robert Fox; and sister, Carolyn Clark. In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation followed her passing. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Ron Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Hamden Cemetery. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
