Betty Lou King, age 96, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Otterbein Senior Living in Granville, Ohio.  She was born December 13, 1927 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late James Berkley Claar and Ollie Davis Claar.  Betty Lou was the last living member of the 1945 graduating class of Wellston High School.  She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of the former E.U.B. Church in Wellston.  Betty Lou is survived by her children, Claar Barbour of Canfield, Oh., Richard Scott King (Charlene) of Bidwell, Oh., and Dixie Douglas (Mark) of Granville, Oh.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Barbour, Hillary Thompson (Matt), Margaret Barbour (Joe Cora), Alexis Barbour (Brian Mamula), Leslie Erin Vitela (James), Joshua Levi King (Stacey), Richard Ellis (Ashley), Stacey Bigony (Dr. Chad), and Leea Bryan (Scott); great-grandchildren, Grace, Adeline, and Henry Wagner, Nora and Milly Thompson, Shea, Jocelyn, and William Mamula, Everett and Lorelai King, Cannon Stewart, Aiden Bennett, Ella and Audrey Bigony; and special niece, Stephanie Claar Lindsay.  Besides her parents, Betty Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Richard "Dick" King; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen B. and Mary Ann Claar; son-in-law, William H. Barbour; and niece, Jan Claar Exner.  Calling hours will be Sunday, February 18th, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. with Pastor John Pelletier officiating.  Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Betty Lou's memory be given to a favorite charity of one's choice.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
