William C. "Bill" Kimbel, age 79 of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at his home. He was born August 28, 1945 in Portsmouth, Ohio, son of the late Robert Kimbel and Mabel L. Israel Kimbel. Bill was a 1963 graduate of Jackson High School and a veteran of the United State Air Force who served from 1965 to 1969 during the Vietnam era. Bill retired as Executive Vice President of The First National Bank of Wellston, where he was employed for 39 years. He was past President and member of the Jackson Jaycees, past President and member of the Wellston Lion's Club, and past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #466. Bill loved being a spectator of all high school and college football, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes, of whom he was a diehard fan. For over 20 years, Bill enjoyed motorcycle riding, along with his wife, Anna Marie. Together, they rode through 48 states, Mexico and 7 Canadian Provinces. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Rusty Ballinger of Proctorville and Kendra and David Shotts of Wellston; grandchildren, Karie Shotts, David Shotts (Lindsey) and Alisha Shotts; cousin, Sue Ann Johnson of Missouri, as well as 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie Evans Kimbel in 2017; his brother, Robert D. Kimbel, and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Jones. Calling hours will be Sunday, January 26th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where Rosary service will begin at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 27th, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston with Father Thomas Herge officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.
