Obituary

Billy Jack Stansberry, Jr., age 63, of Jackson, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 6, 2023.  Billy was born October 23, 1960 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Billy Jack "Jack" Stansberry, Sr. and Maxine Long Stansberry.  Billy was raised in Jackson, Ohio where he attended grade school and high school.  He was a 1978 graduate of both Jackson High School and Buckeye Hills Career Center, where he received a degree in heating and air conditioning.    After graduating high school, Billy worked for a short time at Banquet Foods until suffering from encephalitis which left him in a coma for three and a half months.  Through the grace of God, he survived his illness and continued to live a full life for many years. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals fan, who enjoyed watching as many of their football games as he could.  Billy was also an avid reader. James Patterson was his favorite author, but he also enjoyed many other mystery writers as well.  Billy lived in south Texas for a few years where he enjoyed the beach and warm climate.  Above all, he enjoyed time with his family. After returning to Ohio, he was a cab driver in Jackson County for a time but ultimately his health conditions required him to reside in nursing homes for the remainder of his life. Nursing home life did not weaken his resolve and will. It was rare not to find him in good spirits.  Because of that, he was liked by the staff and fellow residents of the nursing homes.  Mourning the loss of Billy are his three sisters, Nancy Hollingshead (Richard), Diane Hollingshead (Paul), and Regina Maynard; nieces, Tiffany, Heather, Stacey and Holly; nephews, Jarod, Jeremy, Adam, and Gary; as well as 3 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.  Going home to the Lord before Billy was his father, Jack Stansberry, Sr., who passed away in a trucking accident when Billy was 7 months old; his mother, Maxine, and the father that raised him, Gary Maynard.  Also preceding his passing was his nephew, Dave Allen, and Billy's good friend, David Tolbert.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 14th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Hollingshead officiating.  Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
