Billy J. Witt, age 37, of Wellston, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 10, 2019.  He was born December 29, 1981 in Columbus, Ohio to Billy R. Witt, Jr. and Terry L. Davis Witt.  Billy was a courageous, strong, faithful, steadfast, loving, true servant of God.  He pastored from 2011 to 2018 at the Church on the Move in Wellston, where he was a member for 20 years.  Billy was also an honored and dedicated Wellston firefighter, who served as the Assistant Chaplain of the department.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing softball.  Billy loved the summertime because it meant that it was time for him to coach kids playing baseball.  His love for the kids showed, as it was known that he was the most loved coach around.  Billy was also a wonderful family man.  He was a perfect and faithful husband, a phenomenal dad, a loving son, and an awesome brother, along with being a loyal friend to many.  Billy is survived by his wife of 17 years, Shannon L. Cowger Witt; children, Kobe, Karter, Kyson and Kyndal, all at home; mother, Terry Witt of Wellston; sister, Jenifer Witt (Chris Dupree) of Nashville, Tenn.; brothers, Brandon Witt (Julie) of Jackson and Jeremy Witt (Kimmie) of Jackson; grandparents, Donald Davis (Carol) of Columbus and Gloria Witt of Columbus; father-in-law, Roy Cowger (Brenda) of Wooster; mother-in-law, Bonnie Cowger of Wellston; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.  Billy was preceded in death by his father, Billy R. Witt, Jr.  Calling hours will be Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Wellston High School Gymnasium.  A Fireman's Bell Ceremony will begin the funeral service at 1 P.M. with Billy's best friend, David Mahan officiating, and Pastor David Collins and Pastor Les Bowling assisting.  Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family can be given to a fund at Ohio Valley Bank.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.
