Robert Lin "Bob" Phillips, age 81, of Wellston, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. He was born December 7, 1942 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Wilfred B. "Bill" Phillips and Carrie Jane Kelley Phillips. Bob was a 1960 graduate of Wellston High School where he excelled in sports, including basketball for 4 years and baseball for 3 years. Bob was a former employee of McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing for over 25 years, and later retired from the City of Wellston where he served as plant manager of the wastewater treatment plant. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the United Steel Workers, Wellston Senior Citizens, and World Outreach Ministries. Bob loved taking walks, especially on the bike path. He always enjoyed telling a good story and having conversations with his family and friends. Bob was an avid sports fan who cheered on The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, Wellston Golden Rockets, and Lady Oaks to name a few, along with any sport that his grandkids participated in. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Joye Lin and Larry Adkins, Bobbi and Curt Anderson, and Amanda and Jeff McCormick; grandchildren, Lacey Adkins, Karissa Adkins, Kayla Lin Montgomery, Andy Montgomery (Miranda), Kammi Gail Anderson, Macie Bouska (Alex), Jacob Phillips, Kinley Phillips, Briley Lusk (Tyler King), Alic Taborn (Alyssa), Branen Taborn, Montana McCormick (Sara), Madison Jones (Breyten), and Lindsey McCormick; great-grandchildren, Sophia Montgomery, Mila Montgomery, Nolan Robert Montgomery, Grayson Taborn, and Lincoln Jones; siblings, Maxx Phillips, Kathy Walburn (Larry), Brooke Phillips (Debbie), and Kim Frisby (Gregg), as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Paulette Donahoe Phillips in 2021; son, Brent Phillips, and brothers, Bruce Foster Phillips, Wilfred Barrington "Barry" Phillips, and Michael Kelley Phillips. Calling hours will be Monday, November 11th, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rob Ervin and Jeff Argabright officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
