Obituary

Lewis Robert "Bob" Rodgers, Sr.,  age 92, of Hamden, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his home.  He was born August 19, 1933 in Jackson County, Ohio, son of the late Theodore W. Rodgers and Doris Alice VanMeter Rodgers McIntire.  Bob was a 1951 graduate of Hamden High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy who served during the Korean War.  Bob was a proud crew member of the USS LST-325 Memorial in Evansville, Indiana, a floating museum and the last operational World War II Landing Ship Tank (LST) in the United States.  He retired from the Diocese of Southern Ohio as resident manager of Proctor Center and overseer of camp facilities.  Bob was a long-time resident of Hamden and in years past, he served as fire chief, mayor, and a village councilman.  Bob was member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in McArthur.  He is survived by his children, Deb Rodgers of Logan, Pam Rodgers of Hamden, and Rob Rodgers (Cindy) of Wilkesville; extra daughter, Margaret McGraw (Mike); brother, Jim McIntire (Elinor), along with 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Gerry Rodgers in 2013; sister, Carolyn Bandy; brother, Harold "Doc" Rodgers; nephew, Mark "Boo" Vickers; and great-grandson, Nathan Ray.  In keeping with Bob's request, cremation followed his passing.  A memorial service, with military and fireman's honors, will be held Monday, March 16, at 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Jason Leo officiating.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bob's memory be given to the USS LST-325 Ship Memorial at lstmemorial.org/donate.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
