Buddy J. Shaffer, age 58, of Vinton, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born June 14, 1962 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Bud Shaffer and Janet L. Whiting Shaffer.  Buddy graduated from Vinton County High School with the class of 1982.  He was an experienced mechanic who liked tinkering around on cars, and he loved kids and enjoyed spending time with them and his family.  Buddy is survived by his mother, Janet Shaffer of Vinton; brothers, James Shaffer of Wellston and Mike Shaffer of Jackson; sisters, Gerty Kelley of Vinton, Paula Shaffer of Vinton, Mary Howell of Wellston, Kitty Cooper of Jackson, Wanda Brown of Vinton and Diane Shaffer of Vinton; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Bud Shaffer; and an infant brother, Robert Lee Shaffer.  Calling hours will be Friday, July 3, 2020, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 P.M. with Pastor John Pelletier officiating.  Burial will be in the Radcliff Cemetery.   For those attending,  we ask that you follow the Ohio Department of Health's recommended guidelines for social distancing at this time.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
