Obituary

Carl Bethel IV, age 45, of Zaleski, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022, at his home.  He was born March 10, 1977 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Carl Bethel III and Cheryl Jewell Bethel Cox.  Carl was a 1995 graduate of Vinton County High School and a graduate of Shawnee State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Sociology.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 371 in Wellston and a lifetime member of the Jackson County DAV Chapter 45.  Carl enjoyed being with his family and friends, but more than anything, his grandchildren were his life.  He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Amy L. Mitchell Bethel; daughters, Alexandrea Davis (Alexander), Megan Bethel, Carlie Bethel (Jacob Jonas) and Abriana Nicholson; grandchildren, Aurora, Alaric, Sebastian, Kinslee, Ava, Jacob, Easton and Lakelynn; special cousin, Jean Ann Hamilton (Ben) and family; as well as several adopted children and grandchildren who were close to him.  Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Millie Bethel and Viola Jewell.  In keeping with Carl's wishes, his body was cremated.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be given to the funeral home to help with expenses.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
