Cecil D. Giles, age 71, of Wellston, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Cecil was born December 16, 1953 in Springfield, Ohio, son of the late Clair William Giles, Jr. and Thelma Irene Hart Giles.  He retired from Columbia Township in Meigs County, where he was employed by the township for 28 years.  Cecil was an outdoorsman who lived a simple life.  He enjoyed doing yard work, cutting firewood, and sitting on the porch roasting a couple hotdogs. Cecil is survived by his children, Summer Giles (Robert Davis) of Athens, Donald Giles (Katrina) of Wellston, and Neil Giles (Staci) of Athens; grandchildren, Anthony Giles, James Atkinson, Dallas Atkinson, Kaylynn Giles, Emma Giles, Brantley Giles, Ryland Giles, Matthew Marsh and Cooper Marsh; brother, Frank Giles of Gallipolis, and niece Jennifer Rose of Gallipolis.  Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 18th, at 1 p.m. at Byer Cemetery with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
