She was born March 2, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Tilden Vickers and Evangeline Peoples Vickers. For 43 years, Cheryl was a STNA at area nursing facilities as well as a home health care provider for many individuals. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness House of Prayer in Wellston for 40 years. Cheryl enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching hummingbirds and butterflies, and reading her Bible faithfully every morning. Also, very important to her was spending time with her family. Cheryl is survived by her husband and best friend of 52 years, Steve Skeens; children, Stephen R. Skeens II (Lynnette) and Jamie Sue McClure (Josh); adopted daughter, Crystal Ours (Ben); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rob, Gavin and Jaxon; great-grandchildren, Landon, Aurora and Violet; brothers, David Vickers (Mary Lou), Jeff Vickers (Rose) and Keith Vickers (Debbie), along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hours at 4 p.m. with Pastor Randolph Hall officiating. In keeping with Cheryl’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.
