Connie Thorne

  Connie S. Thorne, age 88, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born August 14, 1938 in Jackson, Ohio, to the late Harley E. Ward and Beatrice N. Collins Ward. Connie was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School. Along with being a loving homemaker, Connie was also a former employee of Walmart for 10 years, and an Avon representative for many years. Connie always enjoyed socializing and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene and a 50 year member of the Chase Chapter #162 Order of the Eastern Star. Connie is survived by her children, Nancy Tolbert (Bill) of Wellston, Tony Thorne (Laura) of Jackson, Teri Sickles (William) of Jackson, Dawn Brown (J.J.) of Jackson and Kellie Collins (Tim) of Wellston, along with 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special caregivers and friends, Randy and Cyndi Baker. Besides her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. Thorne in 1998; sisters, Lottie Hommes and Eula Lyons; and brothers, William, Harley, Paul and Jerry Ward. The family would like to give a special thanks to Jenkins Care Community for the wonderful care they gave to their mother. Calling hours will be Saturday, August 22, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jim Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
