Crista Ann Fortner Thompson, age 49, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  She was born August 22, 1970 in Man, West Virginia to the late Denver O. Fortner and Rita Jean Walls Fortner.  Crista graduated from Gilbert High School in Gilbert, W.Va., and continued her education by receiving an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Rio Grande College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Ohio University.  Crista was employed as an ICU nurse at OSU Medical Center.  She was a hardworking individual who loved her family dearly.  She enjoyed trips to the beach, shopping and spending time with her family.  Crista was of the Free Will Baptist faith.  She is survived by her children, Kelley Atkins (Bradley) of Scott Depot, W.Va. and Nickolas Thompson of Columbus; siblings, Jamie Fortner (Rhonda) of Rutland, Michelle Coleman (Joe) of McArthur, and Billie Evanich (Bret) of South Point; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides her parents, Crista was preceded in death by brother, Anthony Fortner; and sister, Karen Fortner.  Calling hours will be Thursday, March 26, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Puritan Free Will Baptist Church.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Fortner officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fortner Family Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
