Obituary

Dallas Eugene Ousley, Sr., age 82, of McArthur, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 22, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Dallas was born April 19, 1942 in Risner, Kentucky to the late Miley "Mike" and Sarah Ousley.  He graduated from McArthur High School with the class of 1961.  Dallas served honorably in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War; trained as a sharpshooter. He loved his country and was proud to have served it.  Dallas was a hard worker and loved to help others.  Following over 30 years of employment, he retired from McArthur Lumber and Post and prided himself in providing for and taking care of his family.  Dallas was quick to lend a hand to help his friends and neighbors but rarely asked for help himself.  Dallas loved the Lord.  He attended Maggies Home Baptist Church in Dundas, Ohio most of his life.  Dallas accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior many years ago and knew he would be walking on streets of Gold with his beloved son, parents and loved ones gone before him.  Dallas gave his life caring for the love of his life, Madgie Mae.  They spent over 60 years together with a love for one another that most can only dream of.  Even in his last days, his only concern was for his beloved Madgie Mae.  The Ousley family spent many lazy afternoons together in the yard grilling, playing ball and enjoying family time. Dallas was quick to tell his family how much he loved all of them.  Dallas was never happier than when his family would gather together.  Needless to say, he rarely missed a family reunion in Kentucky with Madgie's huge family and loved to attend the local gatherings with his Ousley kin.  Dallas loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting of all types, fishing, tinkering with small engines, football, and family gatherings.  Dallas will be remembered for his devotion to his family and compassion for others.  He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Madgie Mae Maynard Ousley;  brother, Berley Ousley of McArthur; children, Michael D. Ousley (Lori) of Wellston, James A. Ousley (Kim) of McArthur, Anna Bartoe (Roger) of McArthur, and Bruce Bailey (Lori) of Jackson; grandchildren, Crystal Downard (Brian Sizemore), Dallas "Chris" Ousley, Brittany Perry (Chris), Joshua Ousley (Kelsey), Warren Silcott (Tiffany), Zane Moore (Erica), Michael S. Ousley, Zachariah Ousley, Isaiah Ousley (Breanna), Arianna Smith (Matt), Miranda Ousley (Tristan Bartoe), Roger Bartoe, Jr. (Mandy), Wesley Yerian (Tommy), Shaun Bartoe (Cassie), and Jerrod Bailey (Brooke); along with 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.  Besides his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by his son, Dallas Eugene Ousley, Jr.; and siblings, Hazel Reffitt, Hermel Ousley, James "Archie" Ousley, Arnold "Banjo" Ousley, Darcus Barnett, Illa Mae Dunlap, and Lelia Lemay.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 25th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Griffith officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will be in the Elk Cemetery in McArthur.  A Celebration of Life meal will be held at the McArthur Nazarene Church Fellowship Hall on St. Rt. 93 McArthur immediately following the burial.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
