Dana Kent Smith, age 74, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023, at his home.  He was born March 18, 1949 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Norman Kent Smith and Mona Griffith Huffman.  Dana was a 1967 graduate of Wellston High School and a veteran of the United States Army.  He was a former employee of Sands Hill Coal Company for several years, as well as being a self-employed tree trimmer.  Dana was a devoted Christian man, and an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He is survived by his children, Dana Hubert Smith, Shannon Lee Smith, Jeffrey Michael Smith, and Bethanie Jane Smith; as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Jane Smith.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 1st, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Graveside service, with military honors, will follow the calling hours at 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Cemetery with Pastor Joe Sickles officiating.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
