David Anthony Funk, age 60, of Cincinnati, and a former resident of Wellston, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.  He was born January 28, 1964 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Curtie and "Sweet Pea" (McAllister) Funk.  David graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1982.  He was employed as a security guard with the Department of Public Safety working security at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati and area concert venues.  David was a former EMT and dispatcher for SEOEMS, having worked out of station #8 in Wellston.  In his spare time, David loved to do stand-up comedy and making people laugh. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes.  David is survived by his son, Easton Funk of Connecticut; step-sons, T.J. Baker of Jackson and Glen Baker of South Carolina; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Dwight Bowling of Wellston, along with aunts, uncles, nephew, cousins and friends, including special cousin, Elba Heilman.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, and aunts and uncles, including special aunt, Kathryn McAllister.  In keeping with David's request, cremation followed his passing.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 16th, at 1 p.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with Pastor John Pelletier officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in David's memory be given to Salvation Army, 114 East Central Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be given to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
