David R. McDaniel, age 62, of Laurelville, Ohio, passed away on March 30, 2026, at Fairhope Hospice's Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio, following an extended illness.  David was devoted to his family and is survived by his wife Debra, sons Shawn (Misty) McDaniel and Jeremy McDaniel; his beloved grandchildren, Addison and Miles McDaniel as well as bonus grandchildren Gage and Lanee Gilbertson; close friends Frank Varian, Brian Hill and Don Hill; as well as cousins, nieces and other family members. He was preceded in death by his mother Sharon (Cottrill) McDaniel and step-father, Donald Rowland.  David lived a life full of adventure, enjoyed his time with family and friends, and actually enjoyed his job. He retired after 30+ years from WK Enterprises of Columbus in Dec 2023, considering the Woodlands as part of his family.  As a route salesperson for WK, David spent a great deal of time driving, so his home in the Hocking Hills became his sanctuary. He was an avid outdoorsman who, on the weekends, could be found deer hunting, fishing the area rivers (many times with one of his sons), or maintaining/improving their home and property.  He and Debra enjoyed travel during their 35 years together and considered some of his favorites to be their family vacations, including those to the Tetons/Yellowstone, and fishing in both the BWCAW and the Santee-Cooper Lakes in SC.  At his request, there will be no viewing or funeral service. There will be a gathering at the home to share stories, eat delicious food and celebrate his life at a date still to be determined.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his memory to Fairhope Hospice (www.fairhopehospice.org) or to an animal rescue center of your choice.  We love you, David! You will be greatly missed.
