Dennis Ray Payne, age 74, of Zaleski, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at his home.  He was born March 15, 1948 in Sigma, Virginia, son of the late Aldo Henry Payne and Ruby Thomas Payne.  Dennis was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles Lodge and the Wolf Creek Rod and Gun Club.  Dennis retired from General Motors.  He was a generous man who loved to fish, hunt, and tell tall tales.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  Dennis is survived by daughter, Melissa Payne; sister, Sandy Payne, 1 grandson, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including nephew, Kenneth Payne and his wife, Angela; and niece, Ronda Payne and her husband, Jim.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Ronald Payne and his wife, Margaret.  In keeping with Dennis' wishes and request, cremation followed his passing.  Inurnment, with military honors, will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
