Donnie L. Worrix, age 75, of Hamden, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio, surrounded by his family. He was born May 15, 1948 in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the late Bill "Willie" Worrix and Nevolene Justice Worrix. Donnie was a 1966 graduate of Allensville High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, who served in the Vietnam War. On November 19, 1971, Donnie married Gail Waldron, and to this union were born 2 daughters, Deborah and Radonna. He retired from the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, and in his spare time he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson trike and his four-wheeler, and spending time with his family. Donnie was a lifetime member of the VFW, AMVETS, Eagles, and the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Waldron Worrix; daughter, Radonna Worrix (John Mankin) of Hamden; brother, Berlin Ray Worrix of McArthur; sister, Wanda Altier of Corning; sisters-in-law, Marg Barlow (George) of Piketon, Kathy Williamson (Jim) of Peebles, and Linda Maerker (Ed) of Hamden; brother-in-law, Jim Jividen (Janet) of Florida; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special friend, Don Collins. Besides his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Worrix; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glenn and Maggie Waldron; sisters-in-law, Carol Worrix and Ann Leonard; brother-in-law, Louis Altier; and special aunt and uncle, Elfie and Julius Worrix. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 10th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday, January 11th, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Don Lamb officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Hamden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Donnie's memory given to the Hamden Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 309, Hamden, Ohio 45634.
