Hagerty
December 14, 1930 – January 7, 2026
Dorothy G. Hagerty, age 95, of Chillicothe, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her home. She was born December 14, 1930 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Cora Keck Jolly. Dorothy's mother passed away when Dorothy was 1 month old and she was raised by her grandparents, Sam and Lettie Keck. Dorothy graduated from Wilton High School in Wilkesville, and on June 4, 1948 she married Richard Hagerty and was married for 72 years at the time of his passing. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and homemaker and was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Chillicothe. She enjoyed family get togethers, playing cards, watching T.V. game shows, and visiting with family and friends. Dorothy is survived by daughter, Marilyn Hagerty of Chillicothe, Oh.; sons, Steve Hagerty (Becky) of Logan, Oh. and Ron Hagerty of Frankfort, Oh.; grandchildren, Erin Spackey, Jackie James, Mike Hagerty, Marissa Hagerty, Laci Taylor, Crystal Taylor, Randi Jo Anderson, and Jim Hamer, along with several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her mother and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. "Dick" Hagerty, Sr. on June 15, 2020; sons, Richard Hagerty, Jr. on December 10, 1970 and Tom Hagerty on February 8, 2012; and daughter-in-law, Judy Hagerty on January 6, 2025. Calling hours will be Sunday, January 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday, January 12, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Father Thomas Herge officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Wellston. The family would like to the National Church Hospice team for helping us take care of our mother during this trying time. We would like to thank everyone who sent her birthday cards on her recent 95th birthday; she received over 60 cards. The cards really made her day. We would also like to thank all of the family members who helped us take care of our mother the last few years. We were able to keep her at home with a minimal time spent in a nursing facility. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
