Dorothy E. "Dot" Jenkins, age 89, of Hamden, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. She was born March 18, 1936 in Puritan, Ohio, daughter of the late Henry and Ruth Opal Sowards Newman. Dot was a 1953 graduate of Hamden High School. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse who was employed at Huston's Nursing Home for 34 years. Dot was a member of Puritan Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed attending there for many years. In her spare time, she also enjoyed working word puzzles, watching game shows on T.V., and taking care of her cats. In years past, Dot loved sewing, cooking, and traveling. Dot is survived by her children, Terry Jenkins (Roxy), Vicky Jenkins, and Lori Everetts; daughter-in-law, Carol Jenkins; grandchildren, Terry Jenkins, Jr., Todd Jenkins (Brandi Smith), Jamie Caudill (Aaron), Jodi Jenkins (Conrad Harris), Zachary Jenkins of Albany, Jessie Jenkins, Christopher Palm, and Bradley Palm (Amanda Garnes); along with several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dot is also survived by 4 step-children and several step-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Jenkins in 2013; sisters, Margie Kisor and Betty Norton; brothers, Bob Newman, Bill Newman and Larry Newman; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Newman. Calling hours will be Monday, December 8, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Puritan Free Will Baptist Church in Hamden. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Fortner and Pastor Keith Fulton officiating. Burial will be in the Hamden Cemetery.
