Edith Margaret Lanning, age 84, of Jackson, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.  She was born August 13, 1941 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Franklin and Darlene Grubb Rapp.  For most  of Margaret's life, she was a full-time homemaker who loved being in charge of everything.  She was a former employee of Bloomfield Township and a member and former church secretary of Petrea Church.  Margaret enjoyed having long conversations and visits with her sisters, and over the years, taking care of and loving on her dogs.  She is survived by her children, Merrill Lanning, Jr. (Dawn), Tammy Lanning Woods (Jennifer), Eric Lanning (Sandy), and Tracy Lanning (Michelle); grandchildren, Angel Ware (Bob), Jill Bapst (Kevin), Robert Woods (Lactricta), Kristen Crabtree (Matt), Travis Lanning, Olivia Lanning, Mason Lanning, Cody Lanning, Kassie Rasp, and Kaitlyn, Kory and Dalton Kight; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Valerie and Dan Oneill, Bryce Crabtree, Aiden Lanning, and Annabelle and Rhiannon Woods; great-great-grandchildren, Hazel, Leo, Sy, and Oliver; sisters, Ava Denney and Rita Jarvis (Steve); along with several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Merrill V. Lanning, Sr. in 2024; and brothers, Leroy Mosier, Frankie Rapp, Larry Rapp and Richard Rapp.  Calling hours will be Thursday, August 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Friday, August 29, at 10 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Strange officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pattonsville Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-
