Forrest E. "Woody" Wood, Jr., age 73, of Wellston, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.  He was born March 2, 1949 in Beckley, West Virginia, son of the late Forrest Edward Wood, Sr. and Willa Louise Moore Wood.  Woody graduated with the Jackson High School class of 1967.  He was a former fireman with B&O Railroad, and then went on to become an engineer with CSX Transportation, from where he retired.  Woody was also the former owner of Rocket Pizza on Broadway in Wellston.  He was an avid golfer and loved golfing at Franklin Valley Golf Course in Jackson.  He also enjoyed bowling in leagues and was a former member of the Jackson YMCA and Elks Club.  Woody is survived by his daughters, Jodi Wood of Delaware, Oh. and Amy McCoy of Cincinnati; granddaughters, Morgan McCoy and Ava McCoy; along with aunts, cousins and friends, including lifelong friends, Dave and Lynne Lackey.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Matteson Wood in 2019.  In keeping with Woody's wishes, his body was cremated.  A visitation celebrating Woody's life will be held Sunday, January 8th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Private burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
