Obituary

Gary D. Seymour, Sr., age 56, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly, while working in West Virginia, on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, W.Va.  He was born March 3, 1964 in Oak Hill, Ohio, son of the late James R. Seymour and Gladys V. Young Seymour.  Gary was a hardworking, simple man, who worked for Seymour Logging for approximately 40 years.  He always enjoyed listening to music, playing the drums and spending time with his family and friends.  Gary is survived by his children, Carrie Seymour of Andrews, North Carolina and Gary Dean Seymour, Jr. of Wellston; grandchildren, Ryan James Seymour and Jayce Michael Orr; siblings, Janice Dotson of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Roger Seymour of McArthur and Donna Hunter (John) of Wellston; his longtime companion, Deia Rose of Wellston; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin, Calvin, Ralph and Kenny Seymour.  Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Rev. Jim McFadden officiating.  Burial will follow in the Byer Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given to the family or McWilliams Funeral Home to help with expenses.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, those attending are asked to wear facial coverings while inside the building and practice social distancing at this time.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
