Gary
Tilley
December 10, 1952 – November 30, 2023
Gary W. Tilley, age 70, of Jackson, left his earthly home to go to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 30, 2023, while surrounded by his family at Holzer Hospice in Jackson. He was born December 10, 1952 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Dwight A. Tilley, Sr. and Harriett V. Poe Tilley. Gary graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1971. He was a hard-working man that was a "Jack of all trades". In years past, Gary worked at McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing in Wellston, was the co-owner of The Door Shop in Coalton, and then worked for Ohio Precious Metals in Jackson until his retirement. Gary was a strong, faithful man of God, and he loved the Lord with all his heart. He was the pastor, and member of Roads Missionary Baptist Church. In Gary's younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing music with his family and friends. He spent many years taking daily walks with his wife at Lake Alma. Like his dad, up until his last breath, Gary's prayer for all was "get saved today, boys and girls, and dads and moms." He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha L. Buckley Tilley; daughter, Tina Peoples (Kenneth "Lee"); grandchildren, Skyler and Hannah Peoples and Syeira and Mark "AJ" Denny; son-in-law, Mark "Tony" Denny; brothers and sisters, Dwight Tilley, Jr., Deborah Arthur (James), Dianna Vititoe (Joe), Brenda Miller, Steven Tilley (Lori), and Howard Tilley; and sister-in-law, Noma Tilley. Gary will also be missed by his fur babies, Max, Gizzy and Rosie, and all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and his church family whom he loved dearly. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sabrena Denny; brother, Sherman "Wyane" Tilley; mother-in-law, Betty Canter; sister-in-law, Barbara Tilley; and brother-in-law, Larry Arthur. In keeping with Gary's wishes, cremation will follow his passing and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Salem Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
