Gary Lee Waldron, age 81, of Coalton, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his home. He was born March 2, 1942 in Dundas, Ohio, son of the late Paul D. Waldron and Roberta E. Shifflet Waldron. Gary graduated from Coalton High School with the class of 1960. Following 25 years of serving his country, Gary retired from the United States Army. He was a proud veteran who served 2 tours during the Vietnam War. Gary was a former employee of R&J Dairy, and along with his wife Mary, was the owner of G&M Cream Shop in Coalton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gary attended the Free Will Baptist Church in Coalton. He is survived by his children, Paul D. Waldron II, Phillip L. Waldron (Judy), Nicole A. Mineer, and Crystal L. Greene (Christopher); grandchildren, Laura Crego (Cain), Gary Waldron (Brook), Christen Waldron (Josh Doles), Nicholas Dye (Megan), Adam Dye, Stephanie Mineer, Stephen Mineer (Tatiana), Cameron Davis (Kylee Wiseman), Phillip Davis (Tylar), Nicholas Davis (Desirae), and Brian Greene (Breanna); great-grandchildren, Mariann, Adalynn, Alice, Graycen, Karlee, Kinsley, Scotty, Raelynn, Diane, and Luka; as well as his longtime dog companions, Max, Bear, and Luna. Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary H. Hamrick Waldron in 2017; and his sister, Susan Woods. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 18th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Roger Parks officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Elk Cemetery in McArthur.
