Garrett L. "Gary" Whetstone, age 53, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday morning, September 16, 2020, at the home of his daughter in Zaleski.  He was born July 2, 1967 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Arthur Sherman Whetstone and Ona Mae Detty Whetstone.  Gary was a 1985 graduate of Wellston High School and a former employee of BrenMar Construction.  He enjoyed being outdoors, as well as fishing and spending time with his family.  Gary is survived by children, Nicholas Whetstone of Athens, Levi Whetstone of Athens, Gary Lee Whetstone of Wellston, Kayla Slusher of Stockdale, Anna Ervin of Zaleski, Randi Mandeville of Jackson and Ryan Ervin, Jr. of Jackson; siblings, Larry Whetstone of Wellston, Sherman Whetstone of Wellston, Dennis Whetstone of Jackson and Gloria Collins of Wellston; along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Calling hours will be Friday, September 18, 2020, from 4 to 6 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hours at 6 P.M. with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.  In keeping with Gary's wishes, cremation will follow the service.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, facial coverings are required inside the building along with social distancing practices.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
