Obituary

Grover Eugene "Gene" Workman, age 72, of Hamden, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Adena Regional Medical Center.  He was born September 15, 1949 to the late Douglas F. Workman and Icelea Dillon. Gene was raised in Delbarton, West Virgina and was proud of his hometown. He was employed at Southern Ohio Coal Company for many years and later started his own trucking company from which he retired. Gene loved spending time with his family on the pontoon boat, vacationing in Myrtle Beach, camping and sitting around the campfire. He collected antique cars and loved going to car shows, especially the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge TN. Gene had two dogs, Moe and Little Bear, that he loved very much. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Naomi Faye Camp Workman; children, Bridgett (Bub) Hughes of Hamden and Mike (Autumn) Workman of McArthur; grandchildren, Austin, Skyler, and Brandon Peters of Wellston, Grace and Ellie Workman of McArthur, and Michaela Skeens of McArthur; great-grandchildren who were twins, Ava and Andrew Peters of Wellston; sister, Cindy Barath of Ragland, WV; and many other close relatives and friends that meant the world to him. He was preceded in death by his parents. In keeping with Gene's wishes, his body was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
