George L. Morris, age 78, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at his home.  He was born February 23, 1945 in Greenup, Kentucky, son of the late Hubert Morris and Emiline Hammond Morris.  George was a former dozer operator for Esaw Eberts for several years.  He enjoyed riding horses, gardening, and working in his flowers, but most of all, George enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He is survived by sons, Keith Morris (Carol) of South Shore, Ky., Kevin Morris (Karen) of Ashville, Oh., George Morris of McArthur, and Dalton Hamilton (Cassandra) of Frankfort; daughters, Kelly Morris of Creola, and Jennifer Morris of Ray; step-children, William Wright of Coalton, Carol Morris of South Shore, Ky., and Barbara Wright of Urbana; brother, Bill Morris of South Shore, Ky.; sisters, Glenna Lucille Stark of Sciotoville, and Betty Kay Nagel of Wheelersburg; along with 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Gussler Morris in 2020; grandson, Thomas Chase Morris; step-son, Vernon Wright; brothers, Robert "Bob" Morris, Paul Morris, and John Morris; and sisters, Bessie Howell, Janet Lumpkins, Mary Frances Traylor, Opal Thompson, and Pauline Wright.  Calling hours will be Friday, October 13th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Peoples officiating.  Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
