Harry W. Downard, age 83, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home.  He was born February 19, 1941 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Phillip A. Downard and Eva M. Post Downard.  Harry was a proud graduate of Wellston High School with the class of 1959.  He was a former employee of McNally-Pittsburg Manufacturing in Wellston for 25 years until their closing, then later retired from the City of Wellston.  During his employment with the city, he was one of two employees who started the recycling program for the city.  For over 40 years, Harry was a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene and presently attended Freedom Chapel Church.  In years past, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed Western square dancing with his wife, having traveled all over the area to dance.  He also enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds every day, cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns, and spending time with his family, especially his great-grandsons.  Harry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary M. Kruger Downard; son, Bob Downard; grandchildren who were raised in his home, Shane Downard and Katie Downard; great-grandsons, Kolsen and Kooper Gray, along with several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Downard Young; and his siblings, Ronnie Downard, Gordon Downard, Kenny Downard, Doris Denney, Phyllis Zinn and Carolyn Zinn.  Calling hours will be Friday, February 7th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Saturday, February 8th, at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Griffith and Pastor Rich Moore officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt.
