Helen Nunley Lester, of Elyria and a former resident of Wellston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the age of 86.  She was born December 1, 1934 in Rita, W. Va. to the late Matthew and Florence Nunley.  Helen and her husband, Eugene, moved to Cleveland and later to Brook Park and North Ridgeville.  She enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling, listening to country music and playing bingo.  Helen and Eugene settled in Wellston for their retirement.  She recently resided in Elyria where she was an active member of her children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's lives.  Helen is survived by her children, Brenda (Bob) Jackson, Clarence (Karen) Lester, Karen Evans and Debbie (Russ) Matthews; sister, Betty Hinkle; along with 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  The family would like to give a special thank you to her friend, Jennings Swecker, for his care and companionship for many years.  Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Eugene Lester; sisters, Juanita Cook and Ruby Short; and brothers, Charles Nunley and Donald Nunley.  Visitation will be Saturday, March 20, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  A memorial service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Pelletier officiating.  Interment will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
