Helen Kay Mullen, age 76, of Hamden, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born September 23, 1944 in Hamden, Ohio, daughter of the late Max J. Huston and Marjorie M. Eberts Huston. Helen Kay graduated from Hamden High School with the class of 1962. She attended Ohio University, and later obtained a RN Degree from the Hocking School of Nursing, along with a Nursing Home Administration License. Helen Kay was a former nurse and co-administrator at Huston Nursing Home in Hamden for several years. She enjoyed traveling and watching college football, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and bragging about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen Kay is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mark L. Mullen; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Dickie Johnson of South Carolina, Kelly and Larry Carter of Thurman, and Karen and Larry Travis of McArthur; grandchildren, Kaylee, Kamron, Kirsten, Kelcie, Kole, Koen and Keaton; great-grandchildren, Kace, Kaiden and Bowie; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Steve Burns of Hamden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kent and Ann Huston of Lancaster, Gary and Lenoir Huston of Wilkesville and Max Huston of Hamden; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Kerri Moore. In keeping with Helen Kay's wishes, her body was cremated. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 15th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A Celebration of Life service will follow the visitation at 6 p.m. with Pastor John Pelletier officiating. The family requests that masks be worn inside the building by those who are not vaccinated.
