Hilda C. Montgomery, age 97, of Hamden, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston.  She was born March 7, 1927 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Arthur L. VanBibber, Sr. and Nellie Pearl Gray VanBibber.  Hilda graduated from Richmond Dale High School with class of 1945.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was a former home secretary for her husband's trucking company, Charles Montgomery Trucking.  Hilda was also a former employee of Subway and Dairy Queen for many years.  Over the years, Hilda loved to dance, and she enjoyed watching "Dancing with the Stars" on T.V.  She also always enjoyed shopping and spending lots of time with her family.  She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Tom Walton of Wellston and Janice and Herbert Reffitt of Hamden; grandchildren, Tammy Walton (Ezra Prater), Angie Walton, Brian Walton, Lorlene Booth (Mike Clarkson), Eric Reffitt, Jayson Reffitt (Jamie), Tanya Ward (Terry), and Joshua Reffitt (April); along with 22 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Montgomery in 1981; siblings, Collis Joan VanBibber, Gould VanBibber, Arthur Luther VanBibber, Jr., Verona Stevens Bishop, Helen Fain, Thomas VanBibber, Burneda Flannery, and Ronald VanBibber; and special nephew, Gary L. VanBibber..  Calling hours will be Saturday, January 11th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Searls officiating.  Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
