Howard R. Strickland, age 83, of Wellston, passed away Monday, November 11, 2019, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio.  He was born January 17, 1936 in Jackson County, Ohio, son of the late William E. Strickland and Marcella P. Kelly Strickland.  Howard was a 1954 graduate of Jackson High School.  He was a retired steel worker, who was a former employee of McLouth Steel.  Howard was an active man who enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, gardening and working in the yard.  In his spare time, he also enjoyed yard sales and flea markets.  Howard was a member of Freedom Chapel Church in Wellston.  He is survived by his children, Mike Strickland of Michigan, Tammy Strickland of Wellston, David Strickland of Wellston, Scott Strickland (Robyn) of Michigan, Missy Elliott (John) of Georgia, Diane Evoe of Wellston and Doug Strickland (Rachel ) of Wellston; sister, Imogene Garlitz; brothers, Cecil, Bernard, Dean, Basil and Dennis Strickland; along with 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Yolanda Dickerson Strickland; son, Russell Strickland; and grandson, Dwayne Evoe.  Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 7 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Friday at 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Perry Brafford officiating.  Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com .
