Jack E. Oiler, age 90, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. He was born November 14, 1934 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Donald H. Oiler and Alma Finnearty Oiler and was raised by his step-mother Virginia L. Lewis Oiler. Jack was a 1952 graduate of McArthur High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in both football and basketball. He and his wife were the owners and operators of the former Oiler's Market in Dundas for 21 years. Jack was also a former insurance agent, having retired from Western Southern Life Insurance Company with whom he was an agent for 30 years. Over the years, Jack received many awards for his accomplishments as a licensed insurance agent. His love of sports followed Jack throughout his life. He enjoyed attending sporting events, especially those of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack also enjoyed reading, sharing his love for swimming, and spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in McArthur. Jack is survived by his daughters, Vickie Wortman (Kim) of McArthur and Heidi Mullins (Bob) of Athens; grandchildren, Stephanie Roush (Brett), Nick Wortman (Anthony Canini), Hunter Mullins and Layken Mullins; great-grandchildren, Jacinda Brown ( (Taron Vincent)), Reese Wyant (Tori Wiseman) and Jack Fraley; great-great grandchildren, Zeke Brown, Gianna Vincent and Sutton Wyant; sister, Judy Ellis of Cincinnati; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of over 69 years, Cledith Prater Oiler in 2023; son, Donald Oiler, and daughter, Rebecca Oiler Perry. Calling hours will be Sunday, February 2nd, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday, February 3rd, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elk Cemetery in McArthur. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Jack's memory be given to Jenkins Care Community Memory Care Unit, 142 Jenkins Memorial Road, Wellston, Ohio 45692.
