James Bentley, age 86, of Columbus, and a former resident of Vinton County, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Grove City, Ohio.  He was born September 15, 1935 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Tom Bentley and Gracie Bradley Bentley.  Jim was retired from Kinnear Door in Columbus where he was employed for 37 years.  He always enjoyed sitting on his swing, spending time with his family, and coming back to visit down home in Vinton County.  Jim is survived by his children, Terry Bentley (Shari) of Columbus, Randy Bentley of West Jefferson, Lori Everett of Columbus, Brian Bentley (Michelle) of Mechanicsburg, Jeff Bentley (Lisa) of Ashville and Scott Bentley (Julie) of Columbus; as well as 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Carolyn Bentley; son-in-law, Jim Everett; brothers, Greene, William, Deslie, Asbury, Claude and T.J. Bentley; sisters, Poky Lewis, Stella Bare, Marjorie Daft and Violet Smathers, along with 2 infant siblings.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 1st, at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elk Cemetery in McArthur.  Family and friends may call 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
