James Mathew Funk, age 56, of Byer, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at his residence.  He was born January 10, 1964 in Jackson, Ohio, son of the late William Richard Funk and Rebecca Ann Blair Funk King.  Jim was a graduate of Harding High School in Marion and was the former owner and operator of Southern Ohio Fire Prevention.  He enjoyed being outside working in the yard, as well as going hunting, fishing and camping.  But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Jim is survived by daughters, Amber Funk and Savannah Lane, both of Marion; grandchildren, Erica, Emily, Alexis and Aubrey Farmer, Kylee and Kaylee Lane, and Kamrie and T.J. Baker; brothers, Danny Funk of Marion and Steve Funk of Byer; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler Michael James Farmer.  A memorial service and burial in Mountain Ridge Cemetery in Jackson will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
