"Jim" Sheaffer
February 17, 1950 – May 30, 2019
James R. "Jim" Sheaffer, age 69, of Wilkesville, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born February 17, 1950 in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Robert E. Sheaffer, Sr. and Barbara Jane Mosher Sheaffer. Jim was a 1968 graduate of Pleasant View High School in Columbus. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, who served his country during the Vietnam War. Jim was a former self-employed contractor as well as a school bus driver for the Vinton County school district. He was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski, and in his spare time he always enjoyed playing cards and being around his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianne Hagerty Sheaffer; children, John Sheaffer (Nicole) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Matt Sheaffer (Olivia) of Columbus, and Sarah Valentine (Joe) of Jackson; sister, Susan Simpson (Charles) of Missouri; brothers, Dale Sheaffer of Arizona, Ken Sheaffer of Pennsylvania, and Robert Willard Sheaffer (Joyce) of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Miki Sheaffer of Akron; along with 14 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Shug Hagerty; brother, Robert E. Sheaffer, Jr.; sisters, Jeannie Sheaffer and Ruth Gorey (Ron); and sister-in-law, Janet Sheaffer. Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski with Father David Young officiating.
