James "Jim"
Napper
January 5, 1949 – February 28, 2026
James Harold Napper, known to many as Jim, peacefully embarked on his final journey on February 28, 2026, at the age of 77, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born January 5, 1949 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Zeffie "Jim" Napper and Mabel Madden Napper. A man of quiet strength and enduring faith, Jim spent his formative years at Uncle Joe's Chapel on State Route 124. It was there, among the familiar pews and hymns of his youth, that he built the spiritual foundation that would guide him through nearly eight decades of a well- lived life. Jim's 77 years were a masterclass in the power of a gentle spirit. He moved through the world with a blend of wisdom and warmth, possessing an innate ability to make others feel seen and heard. To know Jim was to love Jim. Whether he was offering a piece of advice, or even one of his simple stories as he loved to tell those to others. He left every life he touched a little brighter than he found it. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mabel Napper, and father Zeffie Napper, whose memory he carried in his heart throughout his life. He is survived by family and friends, including his friends at Buckeye Community Services. Jim leaves behind a legacy of love that transcends his passing. While his presence will be deeply missed in the halls of the Cambrian and the community he frequented, his wisdom and smile will be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of walking part of the way with him. Those who knew him are encouraged to honor his memory by practicing a simple act of kindness a tribute fitting for a man who gave so much to the world. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Curry Cemetery with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
