James Alexander "Bill" Scales, age 83, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born September 15, 1937 in Jenken Jones, West Virginia, son of the late James Early Scales and Stella Holland Scales.  Bill,  a hard working man all of his life, retired from Labor Union Local 423 and ABM.  He loved working in the garden growing hot peppers, tomatoes and all of the good stuff.  He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends and cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes.  Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Reed Scales; as well as several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Richard Ellis Scales; and brothers and sisters, Lily, Annie, John, Rebecca, Clarence, Doretha, Francis, Beatrice and Myrtle.  In keeping with Bill's wishes, his body was cremated.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Woodson Cemetery in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
