Jane Chevalier, age 95, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born March 20, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Albert King and Lilly Downing King. Jane was a 1946 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a loving housewife and mother, and was also a former employee of Flowerland in Wellston. Jane was a lifelong member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston, charter member of the Wellston Historical Association, member of the Southern Hills Arts Council, former member and past president of the Wellston Mother's Club, and the former chairman of the Wellston Civil Service Committee. She was also a former member of the Wellston Tree Commission and was instrumental in having memorial trees planted in Ridgewood Cemetery and Pride Park. Jane is survived by children, Carol Pankratz, and husband Carl, of Perrysburg, and Mark Chevalier, and wife Margit, of Creola; daughter-in-law, Kelly Chevalier of Vashon, Washington; son-in-law, Tom Geiger of Jackson; brother, Dave King of Wellston; sister, Kathleen "Kay" Jeffers of Canal Winchester; sister-in-law, Betty Lou King of Wellston, as well as 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Glenn A. Chevalier, in 2012; son, Jack Chevalier; daughter, Peggy Geiger; brother, Dick King; brother-in-law, Bill Jeffers; and sister-in-law, Paula King. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 12th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday, November 13th, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Jane's son, Mark Chevalier, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be given to the Peggy Geiger Memorial Scholarship, c/o Wellston City Schools, 1 East Broadway, Wellston, Ohio 45692.
