Janie Dearing, age 83, of Jackson, passed away September 3, 2026 at her home. She was born June 1, 1943 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Ernest L. “Ernie” Yinger and Helen L. Terry Yinger. Janie was a 1961graduate of Jackson High School and later retired from the Jackson Senior Citizen’s Center. When health permitted, she attended Buckeye Community Church. Janie was an excellent seamstress who could crochet, quilt and sew anything from curtains to wedding dresses and everything in between. She also loved cooking, especially baking. No Christmas holiday or family reunion passed that failed to include an abundance of Janie’s delicious food. But even greater than her love of baking and sewing was her giving nature. Throughout her life, Janie donated freely, abundantly and tirelessly of her time, talents and homemade and handmade gifts to friends and family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pheobe and Freddie Canter and son and daughter-in-law, David and Jackie Dearing; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Clinton Yinger (Shirley), Terry Yinger (Doris), Larry Yinger (Denyce) and Peggy Lafon Ankrim (Mike); brother-in-law Gary Dearing; sister-in-law, Laralyn Sasaki Dearing, as well as several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Donald V. Dearing in 2014; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph Dearing and Wilma Dearing; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Mary Dearing; brothers-in-law Larry Dearing and Tom Dearing and sister in-law Ched Dearing. Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.
