Joseph Douglas "JD" Patton, age 71, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 28, 2025.  He was born March 28, 1954 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Joseph Patton and Betty J. Carney Patton.  JD graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1972 and was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was a retired truck driver, and in his spare time he enjoyed tinkering on cars, watching NASCAR races, and cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds.  JD is survived by children, Joseph Patton and Elizabeth Patton; brother, Jerry Patton (Laura); sisters, Lisa Rinehart (Jason) and Teresa Bernier (Roger); companion, Gina Poland; along with 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, JD was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Patton.  In keeping with JD's request, cremation followed his passing.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
