Jerry Lee Hawk, Sr., 73, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.  He was born November 24, 1948 in Allensville to the late Charles Hawk and Emma Jane Cozad Hawk. Jerry graduated from Allensville High School in 1967 and then served in Vietnam in the US Army, earning a Purple Heart. He worked for Austin Powder for a time and then later the Vinton County Highway Department from which he retired. Jerry served as an auxiliary deputy for the Vinton County Sheriff's Office and was a Richland Township trustee. He was honored at the county wide trustee association meeting for his many years of service.  Jerry loved his community and supporting the youth. He was involved in establishing the baseball program for Vinton County, was a statistician for the basketball team, and was inducted into the Vinton County High School Hall of Fame for his dedication and service to the youth of the community. Jerry is survived by his children, Misty Dawn Hawk (Vaughn Kennedy) and Jarrod Wayne (Stephanie) Hawk; grandchildren, Ryan A. (Brittney) Hawk, Jacob Hawk, Jordan Hawk, Braylon Hawk and Brittany (Nick) McNichols; great-grandchildren, Griffin Hawk, Aubrianna Newman, Stratton McNichols and Sawyer McNichols. He was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Jean Ruffner Hawk; son, Jerry Lee Hawk, Jr.; brother, Vernon R. hawk; and an infant sister. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 11th, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Danny Minton officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bell Cemetery.
