Jim
Kessler
September 30, 1944 – May 28, 2020
James W. Kessler, Jr., age 75, of Hamden, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Four Winds Community in Jackson, Ohio. He was born September 30, 1944 in Canton, Ohio, son of the late James W. Kessler, Sr. and Mildred E. Huffman Kessler. Jim was a 1962 graduate of Wilkesville High School and was a former employee of Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing in Wellston. For many years, Jim loved playing Santa Claus for the Wellston Lions Club. He also always looked forward to passing out candy at Halloween to all of the trick-or-treaters. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed being outside with his metal detector, as well as taking pictures and sharing them with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle and scooter, working on lawnmowers, and he loved his family and spending time with them. But the greatest thing he ever did was to ask the Lord to come into his life. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Wylodine Jayjohn Kessler, whom he married on September 7, 1973; children, James Scott Kessler of Hamden and Angela Dempsey (Todd) of Jackson; grandchildren, Nikki Smallridge (Eric), Chelsey Ballis (Brenton), James Scott Kessler, Jr., Tosha Kessler, Ian Dempsey, Jack Dempsey and Brant Dempsey; as well as 7 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Kessler; and sister, Sandy Kessler. Calling hours will be Monday from 11 A.M. to1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery. For those attending, we ask that you follow the Ohio Department of Health's recommended guidelines for social distancing at this time. For those who would like to be there in spirit, Jim's funeral service will be live-streamed on the McWilliams Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 1 P.M. on Monday.
