Jim Lackey

  James M. “Jim” Lackey, age 80, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. He was born December 20, 1945 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late George H. Lackey and Helen I. Kriebel Lackey. Jim graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1963 and later attended Rio Grande College. He was the former owner and operator of Lackey’s PDQ in Wellston for 38 years and was also a former employee of Riepenhoff Distributing for 20 years. Jim enjoyed golfing, vacationing, rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Orphans Friend Lodge #275 F&AM in Wilkesville. Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly K. Gilliland Lackey, whom he married on December 3, 1966; daughter, Lorrie Ann Hamon (Mark); son, James Scott Lackey; grandchildren, Cameron Hamon, Lexi Lackey, Connor Hamon, Emily Lackey, Natalie Lackey, and Abby Doyle Garland; sister-in-law, Debbie Lackey; and nephews, Jordan Lackey and Justin Lackey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Allyson Nicole Hamon; sister, Karen Lackey; brother, Mike Lackey; and special aunt, Audrey Parker. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 31, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating.
