James William Walker, age 74, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his home.  He was born September 14, 1949 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late William L. Walker and Eileen A. Souders Walker.  Jim was a 1967 graduate of Wellston High School and later received a degree in mechanical engineering from Franklin University.  Jim loved his profession and job and retired in 2020 from the Army Corps of Engineers.   He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, and in years past, attended the First Baptist Church in Wellston.  Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching and attending NASCAR races.  He always looked forward to spending time with his family, especially during the holidays.  Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley A. Uber Walker; sons, James William Walker, Jr. (Jennifer), Chad Walker (Loree), and Brian Walker; sister, Peggy Heeter (Bob); brother, Richard Walker (Kelly); along with 9 grandchildren, 2 nieces, 1 great-niece, and 2 great-nephews.  Calling hours will be Sunday, April 14th, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Graveside service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with Rich Corvin officiating.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
